Holistic Medicine and Yoga

Holistic Medicine as defined by the Canadian Holistic Medical Association is: a system of health care which fosters a cooperative relationship among all those involved, leading towards optimal attainment of the physical, mental emotional, social and spiritual aspects of health.
It emphasizes the need to look at the whole person, including analysis of physical, nutritional, environmental, emotional, social, spiritual and lifestyle values. It encompasses all stated modalities of diagnosis and treatment including drugs and surgery if no safe alternative exists. Holistic medicine focuses on education and responsibility for personal efforts to achieve balance and well being.

The word yoga is from Sanskrit origin and means “connection” or “union”. This is the union of our individual spiritual energy – Kundalini with the all pervading cosmic energy - Paramachaitaniya. When the energy Kundalini awakens in a human being this process is called self-realization.

Before the self-realization our Kundalini energy resides in dormant condition in the sacrum bone on the base of the spinal cord. The awakening of Kundalini en mass level is possible through Sahaja Yoga Meditation. Sahaja means “spontaneous” or “born within” and meditation is a state where we are aware and alert but we don’t have any thoughts
